Kittery Water District Consumers: |
| |
The District tried to do its part this past year in stimulating the
economy by contracting out some larger water main |
| |
replacement projects to local contractors to "put Americans back to
work" as President Obama puts it. A total of |
| |
9,476 feet (1.8 miles) of water main was installed in 2009; replacing
both undersize and troublesome pipe that can |
| |
cause emergency pipe repairs and discolored water for our consumers. A
total of 10,324 feet of old mains were |
| |
abandoned in place (1.95 miles). |
| |
The District also finalized the purchase of 60 acres of watershed land
from the former Highland Farm in York. |
| |
This purchase helps to protect the water quality of Boulter Pond. |
