SUPERINTENDENT'S  REPORT  FOR  2007

Kittery Water District Consumers:

We've completed another busy year. The construction crew continues to replace aging infrastructure to increase the water quality and reliability of our distribution system. In addition, we continue to upgrade components at our water filtration plant to increase efficiency and redundancy within the facility.

The following is a list of the improvements that were made to the District's system in 2007.

Improvements / Additions to the Distribution System:

Route One (North), Kittery
    KWD installed 2,516 feet of 12" D.I.P. (abandoned 2,596 feet of 6" C.I.P.)

    KWD replaced fire hydrant # 213-K on Route #1

    KWD and ETTI installed 90 feet of 12" H.D.P.E. pipe

Lewis Road, Kittery
    KWD installed 901 feet of 12" D.I.P.

    KWD installed 58 feet of  8" D.I.P.

    KWD installed one fire hydrant, # 301-K.                                      Asset Value = $ 275,896.00 

Durgin Pines Project, Lewis Road, Kittery
    Dig Rite installed 1,505 feet of  8" D.I.P.

    Dig Rite installed two fire hydrants, # 299-K and # 300-K.             Asset Value = $ 112,875.00

Cole Brown Estates, Eliot  (off Bolt Hill Road)
    S & J Construction installed 2,516 feet of  8" D.I.P.

    S & J Construction installed two fire hydrants, # 84-E & # 85-E.    Asset Value = $ 188,700.00

Post Office Drive, Eliot

    Mick Construction installed 420 feet of 6" D.I.P.                             Asset Value = $  30,600.00

Kittery Retirement Residence, 220 Rogers Road, Kittery

    SUR Construction installed one private fire hydrant, # 302-K           Asset Value = $  51,300.00

Cross Street, Eliot
    KWD installed 600 feet of 8" D.I.P.
    (abandoned 450 feet of 2" iron pipe)                                               
Asset Value = $  24,453.00

Janah Lane, Kittery Point  (subdivision of Alex and Janah Trent)
    Dean Jordan Construction installed 500 feet of 8" D.I.P.

    Dean Jordan Construction installed 522 feet of 4" D.I.P.

    Dean Jordan Construction installed one private fire hydrant, # 298-K   Asset Value = $  78,694.00

Cutts Island Overground Seasonal Water Main, Kittery Point

    KWD installed 273 feet of 2" H.D.P.E. pipe
    (abandoned 273 feet of 2" H.D.P.E. pipe, per the homeowner's request)  
Asset Value = $  1,092.00

Gerrish Island Overground Seasonal water Main, Kittery Point

    KWD installed 523 feet of 2" H.D.P.E. pipe
    (abandoned 523 feet of 2" PVC pipe)
                                                   Asset Value = $ 2,092.00

Lawrence Lane, Kittery Point

    (KWD abandoned 175 feet of 6" C.I.P.)  this was located
     on the Howell's private property

Clyde Road, York - KWD replaced fire hydrant # 24-Y                            Asset Value = $ 2,500.00

Route One, intersection of Lewis Road, Kittery

    KWD replaced fire hydrant # 213-K                                                     Asset Value = $ 2,500.00

KWD installed a 4" fire protection line for IAPP at 170 Cider Hill Road, York    Asset Value = $ 3,500.00

KWD installed a 4" fire protection line for KOA, intersection of the
Route One bypass and Gorges road, Kittery
                                             Asset Value = $ 3,500.00

KWD installed an 8 inch fire protection line for Durgin Pines,
off Lewis Road, Kittery
                                                                            Asset Value = $ 3,000.00

KWD installed and 8 inch fire protection line for the Kittery
Retirement Residence at 220 Rogers Road, Kittery
                                   Asset Value = $ 3,000.00

KWD installed a 6 inch fire protection line for John Samonas at
30 Route # 236, Eliot
                                                                               Asset Value = $ 4,000.00

Services -  78 new,  26  renewals                                                              Asset Value = $ 69,606.12 

Meters -  27 new.                                                                                     Asset Value = $ 29,522.89

Treatment Plant Improvements:

J. Golter Plumbing and Heating replaced the 1959 vintage filtration plant boiler     Asset Value = $ 22,826.00

York County Glass replaced the windows in the chemical feed room
 and lab room with energy efficient glass. 
                                 
                Asset Value = $ 9,925.00

Libby-Scott Paving paved the remainder of New Boston Road and a
portion of the filtration plant driveway (a financial contribution of $ 6,000
was received from the New Boston Road Association)   
                            Asset Value = $ 25,348.20

Pepperrell Cove Marine replaced the 5 Boulter Pond intake tower control
valves and operating stems
                                                                         Asset Value = $ 97,974.00

Shaw Brothers Construction restored the Boulter Pond Spillway
(received a 90% financial contribution from FEMA and MEMA)
                 Asset Value = $ 270,918.59

Continuation of the raw water vault improvements to both vaults
along with interior instrumentation and electrical upgrades 
                          Asset Value = $ 39,408.00
