SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT FOR 2009

Kittery Water District Consumers:
The District tried to do its part this past year in stimulating the economy by contracting out some larger water main
replacement projects to local contractors to "put Americans back to work" as President Obama puts it.  A total of
9,476 feet (1.8 miles) of water main was installed in 2009; replacing both undersize and troublesome pipe that can
cause emergency pipe repairs and discolored water for our consumers.  A total of 10,324 feet of old mains were
  abandoned in place (1.95 miles).
The District also finalized the purchase of 60 acres of watershed land from the former Highland Farm in York.
